Utility Job Opportunities Up in the UK

The
Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) publishes a
biannual survey of the graduate jobs market in the UK. The most recent Summer survey found that overall job vacancies had dropped by 25%. Almost all sectors were down, but, bucking the trend, vacancies in the energy, water and utilities sector rose by 7.1%. The latest survey surveyed 226 graduate recruiters in the UK across 15 sectors who will employ a total of 12,650 graduates in 2009. The research was carried out in May and June 2009.
In the last
Winter survey, overall vacancies dropped by 5.4 % with the fiancial sector particularly hard hit. However, vacancies in the engineering sector were up by 8.3 %.
