The wind output in ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) set a new record at 5:16 PM CT on May 23 of 6,721 MW. This is roughly 20% of the state's power at that time.
These numbers are only for ERCOT and do not include the panhandle which is on SPP's (Southwestern Power Pool) grid. Texas is the leader among the 50 states in installed wind generation capacity at 9.5 GW. Last year Texas got 6.2 percent of its electricity from wind.
