The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) enables organizations to report green house gas (GHG) emissions and their strategies for addressing climate change. 3,000 organizations in 60 countries report their greenhouse gas emissions and climate change strategies through the CDP.
CDP has announced a new program called CDP Cities, which will provide a framework for cities worldwide to report on their GHG emissions and strategies for addressing climate change. CDP Cities is requesting the largest cities in the world who are committed to addressing climate change, the C40 and 19 affiliate member cities, to measure and report emissions and climate-related strategies to the CDP.
Autodesk is a lead sponsor of CDP Cities and is working with the CDP to develope a standardized reporting platform for climate change-related information. Autodesk is providing subject matter expertise with respect to sustainable design for geospatial, civil infrastructure, and architecture and will play an important role in the creation of the annual survey.
CDP Cities allows cities to report both quantitative and qualitative climate change data. Cities can report their GHG emissions as well as information unique to each city. This will help the cities, other levels of government, academics and the privaye sector to understand the risks and opportunities associated with climate change.
