Tuesday, March 29, 2011 08:03 JST (07:03 p.m. Monday March 28 ET) According to NHK, NISA says the water level in the trench that was determined to contain highly radioactive water, according to NISA leaking from Unit 2 reactor containment, is within one meter of overflowing. TEPCO has reduced the flow of water cooling the reactor, but the temperature in the reactor is rising.
A similar problem exists at Unit 1 and Unit 3. The trench at Unit 1 is within 10 cm of overflowing. At Unit 3 the trench is within 1.5 meter of overflowing.
TEPCO says it is planning to remove water from the trenches.
