NISA has confirmed that, as an aide to the Prime Minister has said, a complete recovery of cooling systems at the nuclear power plant is needed to stop the leakage of radioactive substances, and the work will take several months.
Highly radioactive water suspected of being in contact with molten fuel rods was found inside Unit 2 turbine building and also in a trench outside the turbine plant. It has also been confirmed that radioactive water is flowing directly into the sea.
The agency confirmed that it will take several months to remove the contaminated water in the turbine buildings and to take measures to protect workers from radiation.
