A bill has been introduced in the U.S. Senate (S.1669 - Water Infrastructure Resiliency and Sustainability Act of 2011) to authorize the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to establish a program of awarding grants water utilities who increase the resiliency or adaptability of water and wastewater systems with respect to climate change. Eligible projects include conservation, efficiency in delivery, water quality protection, relocation of infrastructure, source water protection, recycling and reuse.
The Amercian Water Works Association (AWWA) and other water and environmental associations have sent a letter of support to Congress for S.1669.
