I blogged previously about an Autodesk Labs project Photofly, at that time a technology preview of a cloud service that allows you to convert digital photographs taken with a consumer digital camera into a 3D point cloud. Autodesk has just announced that 123D Catch, as Photofly has become, is now available for the iPad on the App Store. It's a free app that lets users take images with their iPad camera and upload them to the Autodesk cloud service that transforms the images into a 3D model. Captures made in 123D Catch can also be used as the foundation for further 3D modeling, 3D animation, or to 3D print an object.
A new feature for the 123D products called My Corner has been introduced which provides cloud storage for all 123D design projects and to share files between 123D, 123D Catch, 123D Make, and 123D Sculpt.
Sharing a bit on 3D point cloud processing software:
FARO SCENE software is a comprehensive 3D point cloud processing and managing software tool for the professional user.
