Thank you very much for posting this and discussing his work in Canada. I joined Esri the same year he did, but we didn't work together until several years later. He was a great colleague and a wonderful friend.

THANKS, Geoff, for documenting these segments of GIS history! Genius and ultimate success in the marketplace do not always match, but my dedication to using and teaching spatial analysis owes a lot to my attempts of understanding what's behind SPANS, PotMap etc.
Wolfgang, I fondly remember our talks in Ottawa, Redlands and elsewhere. Some started out as lunch, but did not wrap up until late. You will be missed in many ways - R.I.P.
