The Internet is a set of open, global standards and perhaps the chief reason for its success is that it is not dominated by any one nation, company or special interest group. The Internet is the model for The Modern Paradigm for Standards. For example,
- IEEE standards for physical Internet connectivity
- IETF standards for end-to-end global Internet interoperability
- W3C standards for the World Wide Web
OpenStand is a movement dedicated to promoting a proven the principles upon which this is based. It encourages the development of market driven standards that are global and open—enabling standards without borders and encouraging innovation for the benefit of humanity.
The OpenStand principles are based on the effective and efficient standardization processes that have made the Internet and Web platforms for innovation and borderless commerce. The principles stress voluntary adoption and empower the economies of global market.
