GeoMesa (http://www.locationtech.org/projects/technology.geomesa, http://www.geomesa.org/) is one of the first locationtech projects and provides a spatio-temporal index for Accumulo. You may want to point out that this project exists and has been working with LocationTech toward a 1.0 release for the last year.

Has anyone done a deep-dive comparison of how Geomesa implements geo-temporal indexing in Accumulo versus how Geowave does it?

To me the two technologies seem to accomplish the same exact thing..am I misunderstanding Geomesa and Geowave?
