Yesterday Planet Labs launched 88 Dove satellites to orbit. They were launched on a PSLV rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, India. Planet Labs now operates 144 satellites in low Earth orbit. Each of the latest satellites has a 200 mbps downlink speed and is capable of collecting over 2 million km² per day which means that the entire constellation has the capability to image all of Earth’s landmass every day. Planet Monitoring allows you to define an area of interest which can be local, regional, national, or global in scale and a frequency with which to receive imagery: daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Applications include energy, mining, finance, and critical infrastructure for power or transport.
